CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE RELIEF DONATIONS

Posted On: October 6, 2020

California wildfires recently reached a devastating milestone of over 4 million acres burned in 2020, more than double the previous record, with two months left remaining in the fire season. The 8,300 wildfires have resulted in 31 fatalities and over 8,819 structures destroyed, displacing thousands of others and disrupting lives and businesses for years to come. Many of the most destructive fires have occurred in Northern California, with the Glass Fire continuing to impact Napa and Sonoma County.

To assist those affected by these wildfires, Basic American Foods has donated $20,000 toward relief funds: $10,000 to the Latino Community Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund, which distributes contributions to Latino-led organizations supporting California families displaced by the wildfires, and $10,000 to the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund to support wildfire relief and recovery in Napa County.

A core value of BAF is to “Make Things Better.” We are committed to making a meaningful difference – in our employees’ lives, for our customers, and in the larger communities where we work and live. I am proud to be a part of a company that continues to live by its values, and I hope that our donation can help make things better for the Californians affected by the wildfires.
